The telephone call came 19 years later, nearly to the day after one of America's most riveting scandals played out on national television. On Oct. 9, Virginia Thomas, wife to Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas, called Anita Hill at her office at Brandeis University in Waltham, Mass. Virginia Thomas asked Hill for an apology that she felt was nearly two decades overdue.
